Since 1967, the Intensive English Institute (IEI) has helped thousands of international students and professionals improve their English language proficiency.

IEI provides full-time and part-time curriculum options in its intensive English programs, as well as special group programs for international universities, businesses, educational agencies, and other University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign units.

Services & Support

Encourages international visiting scholars, students, teaching assistants in university departments and trailing spouses/partners to enroll in IEI’s intensive English courses to improve their English proficiency.
Develops intensive English programs for international groups associated with university departments and programs.
Processes requests for workshops or courses in conversational English, reading, pronunciation, grammar usage, and vocabulary development. IEI also handles topics about giving formal presentations, writing research papers, and letter writing.
